Phnom Penh, March 16, 2026 — The Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), in collaboration with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), with support from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Ministry of Commerce Cambodia (MOC), organized a National Validation Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Trade in Cambodia in the Context of the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA).
The one-day workshop aimed to present and validate the key findings and recommendations of a research study on the application of artificial intelligence in trade in Cambodia. The study examines how AI can support trade development and enhance Cambodia’s readiness to participate in the regional digital economy, particularly within the framework of the DEFA.
The workshop gathered around 60 participants from government, private sector, academia, and development partners to review research findings and discuss policy implications for AI in trade. Through presentations and group discussions, participants shared feedback and practical recommendations that will help refine the study and inform future policy directions for Cambodia’s digital trade development.
