Phnom Penh, Cambodia (June 6, 2024) – The Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT) marked its 10th anniversary in a ceremony presided over by His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, First Vice-President of the Senate, and His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications. The event was attended by approximately 300 distinguished guests, including representatives from government ministries, embassies, international organizations, universities, and the private sector. 

Established in 2014 under the initiative of His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, then Minister of Post and Telecommunications, as National Institute of Post, Telecommunications and ICT (NIPTICT), and later transformed to the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT) in 2021, under the leadership of His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications. CADT has played a pivotal role in nurturing Cambodia’s digital talent and driving the nation’s digital innovation.  

Key Achievements Over the Past Decade: 

* Provision of high-quality education in digital technology: Currently, 1,000 students are currently admitted and studying with CADT. They are outstanding students selected from competitive examination. For the past 10 years, there are 500 graduates from CADT, with employment rate of 99% with competitive salary. CADT Alumni have become outstanding resource and changemakers to drive digital adoption and innovators in the digital industry and ecosystem. More than 100 of our students have been obtained scholarship to pursued graduate programs abroad in countries such as France, Belgium, Japan, China, ROK, and ASEAN Member countries.  

* Digital Skill Training of Civil Servants: Institute of Digital Governance (IDG), first of its-kind in digital skill training of civil servants, have provided training to more than 13,000 civil servants both at national and sub-national level for the past 10 years. Our trainings covered 4 levels of programs such as Leading Digital Transformations for government leaders, Chief Information Officer program for head of Digital Transformation Unit, Professional Skills training for technical level, and Digital Skills Essential for civil servants as the foundation toward the development of digital government in Cambodia.  

* Research and Innovation: To date, CADT is home to more than 30 full-time researchers, focusing on applied research on the application of artificial intelligence and data science. Notably, the application of these technologies in Language Technology such as the application of Khmer language technology to support the training of student with disability at National Institute of Special Education, the application of AI in agricultural sector with France IRD and ITC, as well as the application of AI and data science in healthcare with University of Health Sciences. This applied research has contributed to solve emerging and major issues in education, agriculture, and healthcare in Cambodia. On innovation front, for the past 10 years, CADT has initiated and organized number of notable flagship programs such as Cambodia Digital Awards (CDA) with Minister Digital Startup Awards, CODE-C: Developer Conference, Innovation Festival, Makerton and STEM Programs. 

In the remarks to commemorate the anniversary, His Excellency Prak Sokhonn and His Excellency Chea Vandeth extended their congratulations and deep appreciation to the CADT’s leadership, faculty, and staff for their dedication and hard work. They also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of telecommunications operators, digital technology companies, development partners, and stakeholders in supporting the CADT’s mission.
